Perhaps if we made a little effort to understand each others’ way of thinking in general, then we could make a joint effort to bring those who are from Venus (ladies) closer together with those who are from Mars (the lads). House of Fraser conducted a survey to see just how men differ from women when it comes to each of our approaches to all which has to do with the festive season, from picking out an outfit to wear on Christmas day to how we buy gifts.
When do we shop?
Women seem to have their stories together when it comes to shopping well in advance, with 86% doing their Christmas shopping as early as January for the following Christmas. It’s a great way to take advantage of the January sales. Some men on the other hand seem to be shopping in January for different reasons, with 28% of them having fallen behind on their Christmas shopping and therefore doing it in Jan.
Do we enjoy shopping for our partners?
Rather surprisingly (or perhaps not actually), more men (65%) enjoy shopping for their partners than women (56%).
What are the different shopping styles?
This one is perhaps not surprising at all, that being the stark contrast in the shopping styles between men and women. While the shopping completed by men resembles more of a military operation than anything else (complete all the shopping in one day and as quickly as possible), 76% of women prefer picking up little bits whenever possible, with 42% of them even keeping some of the gifts for themselves.
Do we enjoy Christmas parties?
Shifting the shopping focus to specifically what we actually shop for, you’d think that both men and women should perhaps not invest too much of their money and effort into shopping for Christmas parties since only 26% of women actually enjoy Christmas parties, while the numbers aren’t as flattering either with regards to the men, of which only 37% actually enjoy their Christmas parties. It’s very likely that women just want to sit together with their girl besties, sipping the new wine they received from the McBride Sisters Wine Collection or their favorite wine store. Or maybe spend some quiet time with their family, cozying up near the fire. We’re all perhaps just doing it wrong — it helps to know exactly where to shop to make your Christmas party a rather memorable one.
What’s the approach to our Christmas party outfits?
A sizeable portion of the lads clearly don’t seem to be bothered about looking fresh for Christmas, with 43% recycling clothes from their existing wardrobes. As far as the ladies go, 28% plan their outfits as early as a full month in advance, while 30% see this as the perfect opportunity and excuse to really dress to the nines. Women attending Christmas parties will have the perfect outfit. If they don’t already have one planned, some women might like to look at some of the apparel from https://lycheethelabel.com/ for party outfits. Online stores can be really handy for last-minute outfits.
How do we choose our Christmas day outfits?
While 60% of men would rather keep it simple as far as their Christmas day outfits go, choosing to stay in their so-called ‘comfort clothes,’ the ladies see it totally differently with 82% opting to buy a brand new Christmas day outfit. The ladies glam it all the way up as well, with that popular ‘little black number’ leading the way in marking the occasion.
If we took the time to look at these findings a little closer and we made an effort to understand each other, men and women could perhaps get along better during a time when it’s all meant to be merry and festive in any case.
